While the COVID-19 pandemic has been sweeping across the nation, many people and businesses have been helping to support the fearless men and women on the frontline, who are helping those that are sick or in need of care. Whether it is collecting and donating all sorts of PPE equipment and shipping them to local hospitals and assisted living homes, or crafting homemade face masks and protective face shields and dropping them off at nearby medical facilities, it seems like many are doing their part to pitch in and help.

As auto repair has been deemed “essential business” during the COVID-19 outbreak, several auto repair shops have stepped in to give back to their communities as a sign of gratitude to these courageous men and women.

German Autohaus in Chattanooga, TN is showing support to their community by offering free oil changes to all hospital workers and first responders during the COVID-19 crisis. In an article on News Channel 9, owner Brett Elliot explains that this is his way of giving back to those that are keeping the gears of the world turning, and how in the future he may need help from them.

Bimmer Rescue, located in Richmond, VA, is currently assembling face shields, with parts made by 3D printers from businesses and people in the Richmond community, and distributing them to local hospitals and first responders. Owner Patrick McHugh has been very active on Bimmer Rescue’s Facebook page with videos on how their independent BMW/Mini Cooper auto repair business is helping to give back and how his community can help by donating these 3D printed face shield parts in a drop box located outside his shop. In addition, Bimmer Rescue is also providing free oil services and free state inspections to medical staff and first responders.
